Reaching Native Children & Youth for Christ

Camp Living Water

My name is Velma D. White.  I come from Saddle Lake First Nation Reserve in Alberta.  I currently live in the NWT as a missionary with New Testament Outreach Ministries International.  I consider myself to be a Camp Living Water veteran.

Going to camp was a refuge that I looked forward to.  This camp has had a very positive influence in my life.  It revealed the love of Jesus to me and helped me come to a realization that there is a lot more to live for than a life of alcohol and drug abuse.  At Camp Living Water (CLW), I came to know the Lord Jesus and that through Him I could break this cycle which seemed to have plagued my family for generations.  Through Jesus there is victory!

I began to attend camp first as a camper from age eight years through age thirteen.  I later returned as a troubled sixteen year old looking for a way our of my problems.  I found the help that I needed.  I ended up being a junior counsellor at CLW.  From that time on, each summer I would go to camp to volunteer as a camp counsellor.

At age twenty, after my first year of Bible College, I went into full-time ministry and I also volunteered with CLW.  I am still in full-time ministry today - many years later.

As a volunteer and staff worker, I have seen positive results in many of the kids and teens that have come to CLW.  First of all, they experience God’s love for them which brings healing, and secondly, good morals for life are taught.

Camp Living Water is more than a good cause because it is called by God to reach our troubled Native children and youth in this day and age.  As a child I was suicidal and had no hope of living.  God used CLW to restore hope and steer my life in the right direction.  For this I am very grateful!

Thank you for considering Camp Living Water.
